1. About us
Miss Havisham's Tea Rooms is run by Miss Havisham's Tea Shop Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 09468299), with its registered office at 80 High Street, Stony Stratford, Milton Keynes MK11 1AH.
You can reach us on 01908 563270 or at [email protected].
These terms apply when you book a table, order afternoon tea, buy a gift voucher or use this website. Please read them before you book. By booking, you agree to them.
2. Booking a table
- You can book online for parties of one to six. Your booking is confirmed when you receive our confirmation email.
- Your table is yours for 90 minutes from the time you booked.
- Online booking closes the day before. For a table on the same day, please call us.
- We choose the table that best fits your party. If you have a preference, let us know and we will do our best, but we cannot promise a particular table.
- Please make sure your contact details are correct, so your confirmation and reminder reach you.
3. Afternoon tea
- Afternoon tea is baked and prepared to order, so it must be booked at least two days ahead.
- It is paid for in full when you book. Your booking is confirmed once payment has been received.
- The price is the one shown when you book, per guest, and includes VAT where it applies.
- Not everyone at the table has to have afternoon tea. Other guests can order from the menu on the day.
4. Changing or cancelling your booking
The quickest way is the link in your confirmation email. You can also call us on 01908 563270.
Table-only bookings
You can change or cancel free of charge. Please give us as much notice as you can, so we can offer the table to someone else.
Afternoon tea
- 48 hours or more before your booking: you can cancel for a full refund. If you would like a different date, cancel and book again.
- Less than 48 hours before your booking: we cannot give a refund or move your booking to another date, because your food will already have been ordered or prepared.
- Reducing the number of afternoon teas in your booking is treated in the same way.
Refunds are made to the card you paid with. They usually arrive within 5 to 10 working days, depending on your bank.
Because a booking is for a specific date and time, the 14-day "cooling-off" period that applies to some online purchases does not apply to table or afternoon tea bookings.
If we need to cancel
Very occasionally we may have to cancel or move a booking, for example because of illness, an emergency or something else outside our control. If that happens we will contact you as soon as we can and offer you another date or a full refund of anything you have paid.
5. Running late and missed bookings
- We hold your table for 15 minutes after your booking time. If you are running late, please call us on 01908 563270.
- After 15 minutes we may give the table to other guests.
- If you arrive late, we may still need the table back at the original finish time when we are busy.
- If you do not arrive for a prepaid afternoon tea and have not been in touch, it is treated as a cancellation made less than 48 hours before, and is not refunded.
6. Allergies and dietary needs
Please tell us about any allergies or dietary needs when you book, and mention them again to your server when you arrive. You can add or update them at any time using the link in your confirmation email.
All our food is prepared in a kitchen where nuts, gluten, milk, eggs and other allergens are present. We take great care, but we cannot guarantee that any dish is completely free from allergens. If you have a severe allergy, please speak to us before you book. Allergen information for every dish is available on request.
7. Groups of seven or more and private hire
Larger parties and private hire are arranged with us directly, using the group enquiry form. A deposit may be required to secure the date. The deposit, the final numbers we need and the cancellation terms will be confirmed to you in writing when you book, and those terms apply to your event alongside these ones.
8. Gift vouchers
- Vouchers are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase. The expiry date is shown on the voucher.
- They can be used at Miss Havisham's Tea Rooms towards food and drink, including afternoon tea.
- They can be used in part. Any balance stays on the voucher until it expires.
- Vouchers cannot be exchanged for cash, and no cash change is given.
- Please treat a voucher like cash. We may not be able to replace one that is lost, although we will always try to help if we can find a record of it.
- If you bought a voucher online and change your mind, you can cancel within 14 days of buying it for a full refund, as long as it has not been used.
- A voucher does not guarantee a table. Please book in the usual way and mention your voucher.
9. Prices and payment
- All prices are in pounds sterling and include VAT where it applies.
- Menu prices can change from time to time. If you have paid in advance, the price you paid is the price that applies.
- Card payments are taken securely by our payment provider, Stripe. We do not see or store your full card details.
10. Offers and discount codes
Unless we say otherwise, only one offer or discount code can be used per booking. Offers cannot be combined, have no cash value, and may be withdrawn or changed at any time. Any extra conditions will be stated with the offer.
11. Your visit
We want everyone to enjoy their time with us. We may refuse service to, or ask to leave, anyone whose behaviour is spoiling the visit for other guests or for our team.
12. Our responsibility to you
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability where it would be unlawful to do so. That includes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, and for fraud. Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights as a consumer.
Beyond that, we are responsible only for loss or damage that is a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control.
13. Using this website
- We do our best to keep the menu, prices and opening hours on this website up to date, but they are for guidance and can change. The menu and prices in the tea rooms on the day are the ones that apply, except where you have paid in advance.
- The words, photographs and design on this website belong to us or are used with permission. Please do not copy them for commercial use without asking.
- Where we link to other websites, we are not responsible for what is on them.
14. Your personal information

15. If something is not right
Please tell us on the day if you can, so we can put it right there and then. Otherwise email [email protected] or call 01908 563270 and we will look into it as quickly as we can.
16. The law that applies
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If there is a dispute, you can bring a claim in the courts of England and Wales, or in the courts of Scotland or Northern Ireland if you live there.
17. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The terms that apply to your booking are the ones on this page on the day you book.
